As part of our ongoing series on DICOM in Pathology, we're excited to present a thought-provoking panel discussion that will look into the advantages and potential drawbacks of adopting DICOM standards. Our panel will feature voices from Corista, Pramana, Google Cloud, and include special guest Dr. Liron Pantanowitz, to share a cross-section of experiences and valuable perspectives.

David C. Wilbur, MD, serves as the Chief Medical Scientist and Pathologist at Corista, where he leads the company's artificial intelligence studies. His focus is on leveraging technology to enhance physician workflows and accuracy. Prior to his current role, Dr. Wilbur was the Director of the Cytopathology Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. He remains a Professor of Pathology Emeritus at Harvard Medical School and is a graduate of Johns Hopkins.


Dr. Liron Pantanowitz

Dr. Liron Pantanowitz, is the Chair of the Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where his expertise in genomic, molecular, computational, and digital pathology is propelling the field of personalized medicine forward. With previous tenures at Pitt and the University of Michigan, Dr. Pantanowitz is a leading authority in pathology informatics, evidenced by his Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Pathology Informatics. As the current president of the Digital Pathology Association, he focuses on diagnostic advancements and lab innovation. His work is instrumental in shaping the future of patient-centered care.

Kevin M. Kelly has 15 years experience architecting hardware and networking systems in digital pathology with Leica and Pramana. As a Senior Applications and System Engineer, Kevin has supported industry leaders stand up complex digital pathology workflows and infrastructure for the storage, access and computational processing of anatomic tissue data.

Alexander Sicular
Alexander 'Sasha' Sicular started his career in healthcare at Columbia University Medical Center as a Director of Medical Informatics, where he worked to merge the best of healthcare with technology. While at Columbia, Alexander developed clinical and integrated data systems to enhance experiences in patient care, operations, research and quality. After leaving Columbia, Alexander engaged customers as an expert in relational and non-relational distributed database systems on behalf of two big data startups. Currently serving as Google Cloud's Head of Digital Pathology, Alexander leads Google Cloud's efforts to help as many people, in as many places, get access to modern digital pathology capabilities as quickly as possible

Keith Kaplan Headshot
Dr. Keith Kaplan is a seasoned pathologist with a rich academic background from Michigan State University and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He gained recognition as Resident of the Year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he also founded the Army Telepathology Program. Dr. Kaplan has served as an Associate Professor at Mayo Clinic and is currently the Chief Medical Officer at Corista. He is an active board member of the American Pathology Foundation and has been publishing The Digital Pathology Blog since 2007.
